Yes. Danbury Elderly Services is a registered homemaker-companion agency in the state of Connecticut, Registration Number HCA.0002750. Our care team is supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN), ensuring every care plan meets professional health and safety standards.
We lead with compassion first. Our founding team experienced firsthand how difficult it is to find reliable, trustworthy care for loved ones — and built this agency to fix that. Key differentiators include:
- Personalized care plans tailored to each family's lifestyle
- RN-supervised care team for professional oversight
- Flexible scheduling: hourly, daily, or 24/7 live-in options
- Active Medicaid guidance — we help you access coverage, not just provide care
- A culture grounded in five core values: Compassion, Dignity, Trust, Excellence, and Integrity
Absolutely. We believe quality home care should be accessible to everyone regardless of budget. Our team provides Medicaid eligibility guidance, helps with the application process, and manages approved care plans with ongoing RN supervision. Visit our Resources page to learn more.
Our Services
We offer six core in-home care services, each designed to support independence and comfort:
- Companion Care — Social engagement and emotional support to prevent loneliness
- Personal Care Assistance — Help with bathing, grooming, dressing, and daily hygiene
- Meal Preparation & Nutrition — Nutritious meal planning and preparation
- Transportation & Errands — Safe rides to medical appointments, grocery stores, and daily errands
- 24/7 Live-In Care — Round-the-clock in-home support for comprehensive needs
- Respite Care — Temporary relief for primary family caregivers
All services are available individually or combined into a fully customized care plan.
Companion Care focuses on the social and emotional well-being of your loved one. Our caregivers provide meaningful conversation, accompany clients on walks or outings, assist with hobbies and activities, and help prevent the isolation that many seniors experience. It's ideal for those who are largely independent but could benefit from regular companionship and light assistance.
Personal Care Assistance covers hands-on support for daily living activities that a loved one may find difficult to perform independently. This includes help with bathing, showering, grooming, dressing, oral hygiene, toileting, and mobility assistance. Our caregivers perform all tasks with the utmost respect for the client's dignity and privacy.
Respite Care is designed for family caregivers who need a temporary break. Caring for a loved one full-time can be physically and emotionally exhausting. Our respite services step in so that family caregivers can recharge, attend to personal needs, travel, or simply rest — while knowing their loved one is in capable, compassionate hands. Respite care can be scheduled for a few hours, days, or longer periods.
With our 24/7 Live-In Care option, a trained caregiver lives in the client's home and is available around the clock. This is ideal for individuals with higher care needs, those recovering from a hospitalization, or families who want complete peace of mind. The caregiver provides continuous support with personal care, meals, companionship, medication reminders, safety monitoring, and more — all within the comfort of home.
Yes. Our Transportation & Errands service ensures clients have safe, reliable rides to doctor's appointments, therapy sessions, pharmacy pick-ups, grocery stores, and other daily needs. Caregivers accompany clients throughout the outing, providing support beyond just the drive — helping at check-in, carrying items, and ensuring a smooth experience from door to door.
Yes. Our Meal Preparation & Nutrition service is tailored to each client's health needs, preferences, and dietary restrictions. Whether your loved one requires a low-sodium diet, diabetic-friendly meals, soft foods, or culturally specific cuisine, our caregivers take the time to understand and honor those preferences. We focus on both nutrition and enjoyment — because mealtime should be a pleasure.
Our Caregivers
Our caregivers go through a thorough vetting process. We look for individuals who are naturally compassionate, reliable, and professional. All caregivers receive ongoing, specialized training and work under the supervision of our Registered Nurse (RN) care coordinator. We hold our team to the highest standards — from their first interaction with a client to every daily visit.
We believe the relationship between a client and caregiver is deeply personal. During the free assessment and care planning process, we take family preferences, personality, language, and specific needs into account when matching caregivers. We encourage families to ask questions and provide feedback — your comfort and confidence in the caregiver is our top priority. Please contact us at (203) 580-1119 to discuss caregiver preferences.
Your satisfaction and your loved one's well-being are non-negotiable for us. If at any point you feel the assigned caregiver is not the right fit, please reach out to our team immediately. We will work quickly to find a better match at no inconvenience to you. Open communication with our care coordinators is always welcomed and encouraged.
Danbury Elderly Services operates as a registered homemaker-companion agency, meaning caregivers work through our agency under RN supervision. For specific details about caregiver employment structure and what that means for your care plan, please reach out directly at (203) 580-1119 or visit our contact page.

Yes — the initial care assessment is completely free of charge and carries no obligation. It's an opportunity for us to understand your loved one's needs and for you to get to know our team. We'll discuss care options, scheduling, and any questions you have about services and costs before any commitment is made.
We understand that care needs can arise suddenly. Our team strives to arrange care as quickly as possible once a plan is in place. For urgent situations, please call us directly at (203) 580-1119 and speak with our office team — we'll do everything we can to respond promptly.
We offer highly flexible scheduling to match your family's lifestyle. Options include:
- Hourly visits — A few hours a day or week for lighter support needs
- Daily care — Regular recurring visits each day or on selected days
- Full-time / Live-In — 24/7 round-the-clock care for more intensive needs
Schedules can be adjusted as needs change. We work with you to find what makes sense.
Absolutely. Care needs evolve, and our plans are designed to evolve with them. If your loved one's condition changes or your family's circumstances shift, simply contact our care coordinators. We'll review the plan together and make the appropriate adjustments — whether that means increasing hours, adding services, or modifying the schedule.
Medicaid & Cost of Care
The cost of home care depends on the type of services needed, the number of hours per week, and the level of care required. We will provide a clear, personalized quote after your free assessment. Importantly, we help families explore Medicaid programs that can fully or partially cover the cost of care, making quality home care accessible regardless of budget. Contact us to discuss your situation and options.
Yes. Connecticut Medicaid programs are designed to help eligible residents — including seniors and adults with disabilities — receive in-home care so they can remain safely at home. These programs can cover a range of services we provide. Our team helps families determine eligibility, gather documentation, and complete the application process step by step.
Medicaid eligibility is based on factors like income, assets, age, disability status, and level of care needed. Rather than trying to navigate this alone, our care coordinators will walk you through an eligibility review at no cost. We'll help gather necessary documents and guide you through each form and requirement. Visit our Resources page to learn more or call (203) 580-1119 to speak with our team.
Yes — this is a core part of what we do. Our care coordinators provide hands-on application assistance: guiding you through each form, explaining every requirement, and ensuring nothing is missed. Once approved, our RN-supervised care team manages your plan with ongoing professional oversight. You don't have to figure it out alone.
We accept Medicaid-funded care for eligible clients, and also work with families who prefer private pay arrangements. For specific information about accepted payment methods, insurance, or long-term care coverage options, please contact us at (203) 580-1119 so we can review your situation and find the best path forward.
Adult Family Living (AFL) Program
The Adult Family Living (AFL) Program is a Connecticut Medicaid program that allows a family member or close friend who lives with an elderly loved one to be paid for the care they provide. Through Danbury Elderly Services' AFL program, qualifying caregivers can receive up to $2,400 per month in compensation — funded entirely by Medicaid, not out of pocket. It's a way to recognize and support the dedicated family caregivers who are already doing this important work every day.
You may qualify if all of the following apply:
- Your elderly loved one is enrolled in Connecticut Medicaid
- You live together with that loved one
- You are already providing care for them in the home
The caregiver can be a family member or a friend who shares the home. To find out if you qualify, contact our office and ask for Stacy Chery, Office Manager, at (203) 580-1119.
Qualifying family caregivers can receive up to $2,400 per month through the AFL program. This compensation is funded by Connecticut Medicaid — there is no cost to the family caregiver or the loved one receiving care. Payment amounts may vary based on the level of care provided and program guidelines.
Getting started is easy. Call us at (203) 580-1119 and ask for Stacy Chery, our Office Manager who specializes in the AFL program. You can also use our online contact form to request a call. We'll check your eligibility, explain the process, and walk you through each step of enrollment at no cost to you.
Yes — the AFL program can extend to a close friend who lives with and cares for the elderly individual, not just biological family members. The key requirements are that both people live together and that the caregiver is actively providing care. Contact us at (203) 580-1119 to confirm eligibility for your specific situation.
